Wexford County Council is delighted to announce Climate Action Week, an inaugural event which will take place from 13th to 17th May, 2024.

It is anticipated that this festival of Climate Action will bring together the local authority, organisations, communities and individuals as they host and participate in a diverse range of events and collaborations.

We are all aware of how climate change is affecting our lives on a daily basis through extreme weather events, coastal erosion and food shortages. It is anticipated that this awareness-raising week will assist in encouraging us all to play our part, no matter how small, by increasing our knowledge of climate change and specifically the options available on how to adapt and mitigate against its effects.

Details of proposed Climate Action Week events including SEAI Home Energy Grant Clinics, library-based environment/climate themed events, an Open Farm Visit and more will be published soon.

Wexford’s Cruinniú na nÓg Gets Gaming!

This year’s Wexford Cruinniú na nÓg (a free day of creativity for young people) will use gaming as the creative medium to explore climate action, biodiversity and sustainability.

On 15th June, children and young people aged 0-18 are invited to take part in free workshops across the county. Our five county libraries will link with IMIRT (the national representative body for gaming) to host STEAM workshops for teenagers led by gamers and game developers, followed by ‘meet the gamer’ sessions.

Wexford library will also host Galway Game Jam, where twenty young people will collaborate to develop a game in a day that explores saving Wexford’s environmental future.

Additionally, there will be numerous artist-led creative workshops aimed at children aged 0-12 held in a range of venues county-wide.

The full schedule will be released in the coming weeks. Keep an eye on the libraries’ and Wexford Arts Departments’ social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram).

Cruinniú na nÓg is funded by Wexford County Council through the Creative Ireland programme.
